Stepping away from the lists, from themes and from the philosophical, today’s blog is just a quick update on what’s happening in my life. We haven’t had that in a while, I don’t think!
So, first things first: as you may have seen on Twitter a little while ago, I got a job. It starts on Monday and is a solid 37.5 hours per week. Am I happy? Overall, yes. It is a steady income stream, which I have been lacking for the last month. It isn’t the most glamorous job in the world, but it is enjoyable and I am good at it, so it will do for at least the year-long contract that I have.
What does that mean for everything else?
Unfortunately we can’t have our nice things and eat them too, at least not always. Sometimes you have to work so you can have both. So I will continue to blog and work on Archangel as much as I can, but it will be at a slower pace than it has been. And that might sound like a bummer, and it is a little (I mean, who wants to work?), but it means that I can afford to keep writing.
So there will still be time devoted every day to writing, whether it be Archangel, short stories, or blogs. The reason I switched to only two blogs a week was so I could manage that while working full time, so there is no reason that it cannot be done!
While we are here, I will give you an update on some other things. First of all, I have made some good progress on Archangel. There have been three chapter rewritten, a new one added, and some more edited. That being said, there is still a lot of work to go. I am hoping, with my revised timeline, to have it all done by the end of April. I think that is a realistic goal and one that should keep me on track.
As for some other projects, the outline for a new Nightshade story is nearly complete, so the actual writing will start soon after that. And I have a secret project that is filling the gaps, one that I can’t talk about too much but will be a surprise for my followers and those who read my blog. But more details on that in a bit.
I think I might cut it there for now and keep this blog short and sweet. I am still continually working on book reviews and looking for authors to interview for the Coffeehouse, so if you have any recommendations, or an author looking to get some exposure, let me know in the comments, an email, or a message on Twitter! This coming weekend will be all about preparing for the new job and getting as much work done on Archangel as I can, so I will keep you posted on all my adventures!
