So I Took a Week Off

I’m sure many of you who check this blog with any frequency probably noticed that nothing went up last week. No blog, no review, no interview, nothing. I took the entire week off from blogging. I didn’t even think of my blog.

And it was great.

Now don’t get me wrong; I love blogging. What started out as a hobby for me almost a year ago (I know, it has almost been a year!) has turned into something that I am just as passionate about as things like writing stories and working on my novel.

But it can be exhausting. Maintaining this blog while learning all the ropes of being a writer and building a brand is a lot of work. And while I enjoy it, I knew that I was getting closer and closer to burning out.

So I took the week to focus on myself. I worked hard on the rewrite, focused on my full-time job - you know, my other one - and made sure I was getting plenty of rest. I wrote thousands of words for my rewrite, woke up at 5:30 in the morning and didn’t feel tired, and caught up on a few things that I had been lagging in.

And, to be honest, I came back this week not really sure what I wanted this blog to be about. I know I wanted to give you all an update on how things are going from my week off, but I didn’t have any facts or numbers to relate to that. What I can say is this.

Coming back to blogging, I am reinvigourated, excited, and eager to get going again. I feel refreshed and proud of what I have accomplished. Only another chapter or two of the rewrite before I reach part two: the part where I am virtually crafting the story from scratch.

So this will just be a short blog to say that I am back into it, and that you should be excited for what’s to come. We are back on schedule for two blogs a week, and hopefully I can keep producing some bonus content for the weekend.

Have you ever felt like you were burning out? Or did you ever just need to take some time away from work, even if that work is what you are passionate about? What did you do to unwind? Let me know in the comments below, and I will see you on Thursday!

And this blog is just as much for me as it is for you! Let me know in the comments what kind of content you want to see going forward!
